Inside Our Studios: A Look Back at the Jewellers Academy Brighton Online Open Day
Hey jewellers,
What a joy to welcome so many of you to our first ever online open day for Jewellers Academy Brighton! Whether you joined us live from Germany, Wales, or just up the coast from Brighton, it was such a treat to share what we’ve been building — and what’s still to come. If you missed it (or just want a refresher), here’s a little round-up of what we covered or the can watch the replay here:
Our New Home by the Sea
Jewellers Academy Brighton is our sparkling new training centre right in the heart of town — a few minutes’ walk from the pier and the train station. Our studio is 1 minute from the sea so you can eat your lunch on the beach. The studios are packed with top-notch tools, micro motors, rolling mills, and every bench is kitted out with a full diploma toolkit. We even have a pink kitchen. Priorities!
There are 2–3 teaching studios, a space for private tuition, and even an exhibition area — it’s built for learning, making, and getting inspired.
So Many Classes, So Little Time
We’re now running over 50 (yes, 50!) different classes — from beginner silver jewellery right through to advanced stone setting and wax carving. Here’s a quick taste:
-
Silver Jewellery Making – Beginner bundles, soldering masterclasses, chain making and more.
-
Stone Setting – Think claw setting, castle setting, pavé, flush, and my personal fave, collet setting. We’re lucky to have masters like Steven Barnett and Scott McIntyre on the team.
-
Wax Carving – A full levelled programme, from intro classes to cast-in-place stone settings and clean-up days.
-
Silver Metal Clay – Beautiful, relaxing, and a great intro to precious metals. Includes botanical and gold layering classes.
-
Specialist Techniques – Like enamelling (with Mahroz, a trade pro!), sand casting, and working with seaglass.
-
Business & Design – From smartphone photography to starting your jewellery business with me.
We run day and evening classes (so you can come after work!), and we’re open 7 days a week.
Diploma Courses – Back In Person!
This is what I’m really excited about. We’re relaunching our in-person diploma programmes in Brighton!
-
Diploma in Silver Jewellery – Summer Intensive: Kicking off in June 2025, this 7-week, full-time course is ideal if you want to throw yourself in, especially if you're travelling from abroad.
-
Diploma in Silver Jewellery – Year Long: Starts in September, one day a week across three terms.
-
Diploma in Fine Jewellery: Also returning from September, with the same weekly format.
All diploma students get a mentor, a supportive group of fellow makers, and the kind of learning that lasts a lifetime. If you loved our London school or the online diplomas, you’ll know how special this is.
Masterclasses & Events
We’re also introducing in-person masterclasses, perfect for advanced jewellers:
-
Tiara Wedding Band with April Dace – 2–4 October
-
Halo Ring with Scott McIntyre – 15–17 October
These are small (max 8 people) and very likely to sell out.
And if you’re local (or planning a visit), we’d love to see you at:
-
Our Launch Party – 27 March 2025
-
Mini Gem Fairs, jewellery business meetups, and informal socials throughout the year
Private Tuition & Travelling to Brighton
We also offer private tuition (from £295 per day) if you want focused, tailored support while you’re here — popular with those flying in or booking creative retreats. Brighton is super easy to get to, especially from Gatwick, and we’re happy to help with travel or accommodation tips.
Thanks again to everyone who came along. It’s honestly been a dream to open our doors again in person, and I can't wait to welcome more of you into the studio soon.
If you want to get started, use the code NEWJAB10 for 10% off your first class (excluding diplomas and bundles) 💛
With love,
Jess xx
