This is an exciting new intensive course which combines wax carving and sand casting over 5 days in a row to learn a whole range of techniques and to make a small collection of pieces using these techniques.
The course covers the following subjects:
- Wax level 1: Making a Ring and Pendant in Wax
- Wax level 2: Stone Setting - Flush and Rub-over Settings in Wax
- Wax level 3: Claw Setting in Wax
- Wax level 4: Cast-in-Place Stone Setting in Wax
- Sand Casting and Clean-up Day
Over the five days you will learn the following techniques:
- Working with different types of waxes
- Making rings, pendants and charms of your own design in wax
- Setting stones in wax including small and larger faceted stones, bezel stones and cast-in-place as well as set after casting, stone settings.
- Using different tools to work with wax such as the heat pen, scalpels, wax carving tools and classic jewellers files and saws
- Sand casting and how to cast a wax piece of your design using the sand casting method
- How to clean up your wax pieces after casting them
- With plenty of hints and tips from our professional tutors throughout the programme.
The class is completely practical and is technique based. Throughout the 5 days, you will learn a whole range of technical skills from our expert tutors to well equip you in working in wax jewellery either for a business, for a special project or just for fun.
The course runs for 5 consecutive days from the start date.
Each day runs from 10am-5pm and we fit in lots of projects so that you really get value for money out of the course - you will be surprised what you can achieve! This is a very popular class with excellent results so do book early to avoid missing out.
At the end of this course, you will receive a certificate of completion.

As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea, coffee and snacks. The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 8.
