In this fun and intensive 1 day course you will learn to create cast-in-place stone setting pieces using wax.
The cast in place process is one whereby you set the stones in the wax and they remain there while you cast them. It is an experimential process so it should be noted that it doesn't always work, but with time and tried and tested methods you can get some truly incredible results.
Throughout the day you will learn to create wax pieces with stones that are heat proof and so are usually able to withstand the heat of the casting process without cracking or discolouration. You will also learn about the structure of the piece and what is needed to create a cast in place design.
As it is a one day course we will focus on the making of the piece and after you can take it to a casters to cast in place should you choose to.
As an intermediate level course, it is suggested that you've taken both Wax Carving 1 & Wax Carving 2 - Rub Over Settings to be able to get the most out of this class.
