Spend a day exploring round and shaped flush settings
If you have experience of flush setting but would like to develop your skills, this is the perfect 1 day-intensive look into the world of flush setting.
Flush settings are when faceted gemstones are set 'flush' into a piece of metal. The table of the stone is level with the metal.
Flush settings are neat, easy to integrate and add to designs with other elements and settings. They are effective on rings, pendants, earrings, cufflinks, anywhere!
This class is a great follow-on from our two-day 'Stone Setting in Silver' course where you will have set a flush set stone but not had time to explore shaped flush settings and multiple settings in one piece.
Techniques covered in this class include:
- Selecting and measuring your stones for flush setting
- How to set shaped stones in a flush setting such as, oval, pear, square and marquise.
- Creating a design and integrating a flush setting.
- Setting the stones
- Designing and creating a finished piece
In the morning of the course you will look at different setting types for flush setting and in the afternoon you can design and create a simple piece in silver using flush settings.
All stones will be provided as well as guidance on where you can purchase stones from for your future settings.
Classes are very small with a maximum of 8 students allowing close attention from the tutor. This is a great day, packed full of techniques and you will have the chance to make 1-2 lovely pieces of jewellery from silver to take home with you.
