Exploring Cabochon Settings

Spend a day exploring cabochon setting...

Cabochon gemstones have a flat back and rounded top. They are wonderful for beginners who are taking their first steps in stone setting. In this fun and intensive day you will get a chance to make 1-2 finished pieces of jewellery with cabochon stone settings.

This class is a great follow on from Beginners Silver Jewellery I, II and II and can be taken either before or after our two-day 'Stone Setting in Silver' course

Techniques covered in this class include:

• Creating round and/or oval cabochon settings

• Soldering your bezels to backplates

• Playing with design elements for more advanced students such as soldering on granules or beaded wire around a bezel setting.

• Designing with stones - options and techniques

• Filing and shaping your bezels for settings

• Setting stones effectively

We will also look at how to pick your stones for setting, working with rose-cut stones & more.

Classes are very small with a maximum of 8 students allowing close attention from the tutor. This is a great day, packed full of techniques and you will have the chance to make 1-2 lovely pieces of jewellery from silver to take home with you.

For this class you don't need to bring anything but yourself as everything is provided.

As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea, coffee and snacks! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable.

We take an hour break for lunch and there are plenty of local shops to get food from, or you can always bring a packed lunch to eat in the studio. If you have any questions regarding this, or other courses please don't hesitate to get in touch.
