Decorate your silver jewellery and add another dimension to your work through the technique of Granulation.
What is that?! Read on...
Granulation is the technique of creating numerous tiny spheres (balls) of metal with which to decorate your jewellery. There are a number of ways to achieve this effect and in this workshop, we cover the soldering technique.
It is a very satisfying technique that will cause you endless joy (and sometimes frustration!) Throughout the class, you will learn to master the technique and create your own granulated design.
Once perfected, the possibilities are endless.
This class works well in conjunction with the other silver jewellery classes and stone setting classes as you can use the granulation to add detail and texture to your silver jewellery and stone set pieces.
It will take your skill and imagination to turn these pieces into stunning pieces of jewellery.
In this day you will learn:
How to prepare your workspace
How to prepare the granules
Health and Safety when making granules (for continuing at home!)
Positioning the granules on the main piece
Soldering the granules
Working with many solder joins in one piece for granulation
Polishing and finishing your pieces.
Please note this is an intermediate-level class and students need to be confident in soldering and it is recommended they have also completed some basic stone setting before taking this course.
