Jewellery Design

Join us for a day to work on your skills and techniques for developing your jewellery designs. 

Design is one of the most important aspects of making jewellery yet it is often overlooked in training. Nearly all of our classes are technique based and very intensive so there is often not much time to really focus on design. This class was designed to do exactly that! 

Our excellent tutors will guide you through the design process and where to start. 

Topics and areas usually covered in this class include:-

• Finding inspiration (we have lots of magazines, books etc to get you started) 

• Basic sketching for designs, creative thinking and artistic experimenting. 

• The key elements of design (developing your ideas, sketching, basic modelling)

• And throughout the day we will get you started on making your very own designs 

• What materials to use for what designs 

• How to make your design ideas a reality

This course is focused on design and so is not essentially a practical jewellery making class, however, some practical experimentation may be included depending on the class progression. 

Don't forget design as it is such an important consideration for any jeweller and a little design consideration can really create amazing results! 

What you need to bring to this class: 

For this class, you don't need to bring anything but yourself as everything is provided. However, if you have any ideas, sketches, pieces of jewellery you have made or inspirational items please do bring them with you.  

General Info: 

Included in the cost of the course is a design scrapbooks as well as plenty of tea, coffee and luxury biscuits! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 8.
