The Russian wedding ring is a timeless design, instantly recognisable by its interlocking bands. In this class, you’ll learn how to make your own, building a classic piece of jewellery while developing essential skills every jeweller needs.
We’ll start with D-shaped wire, guiding you through shaping, soldering, and the all-important process of sizing — one of the trickiest parts of this project. You will make a ring with 3 or 5 interlocking bands in this class. Along the way, you’ll strengthen your soldering skills and gain the confidence to handle more advanced challenges.
During the workshop, you’ll create your ring in silver, but we’ll also explore how this design is traditionally made in yellow, red, and white gold. You’ll learn how to manage soldering the different types of gold in the piece, preparing you to create Russian Wedding Rings in precious metals in the future.
You’ll leave with a finished interlocking ring and the knowledge to make this classic again and again.
Level:
Intermediate – you should already know how to make a wedding ring and feel comfortable in a jewellery workshop.
General Info:
As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea coffee and snacks! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 8. We take an hour break for lunch and there are plenty of local shops to get food from, or you can always bring a packed lunch to eat in the studio.
