Stone Setting - Shaped Cabochons

Learn to set beautifully shaped stones

Yes, in this class you will explore setting shaped stones by creating cabochon rub-over style settings.

If you have learnt the basics in our 2 day stone setting class this is a great way to expand your knowledge of bezel settings and set some lovely shaped stones.

Choose from a range of square, rectangle, pear/teardrop or marquise shaped stones (or feel free to bring your own as long as they have a flat back!) and create some lovely set pieces to master this technique and develop your skills in just a day.

Techniques covered in this class include:

• Creating square settings, pear settings and marquise settings

• Soldering your bezels to backplates

• Designing with stones - options and techniques

• Filing and shaping your bezels for settings

• Setting stones effectively

We will also look at how to pick your stones for setting, working with rose-cut stones & more.

Classes are very small with a maximum of 8 students allowing close attention from the tutor. This is a great day, packed full of techniques and you will have the chance to make 1-2 lovely pieces of jewellery from silver to take home with you.

What you need to bring to this class:

For this class you don't need to bring anything but yourself as everything is provided. If you want to bring some of your own shaped cabochon stones you can and we will let you know if they can work for the projects. Please ensure they have a flat back.

General Info:

As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea, coffee and snacks! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable.

We take an hour break for lunch and there are plenty of local shops to get food from, or you can always bring a packed lunch to eat in the studio. If you have any questions regarding this, or other courses please don't hesitate to get in touch.
